Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director
Greg joined Hillgrove in February 2013 bringing three decades of experience in the resources industry. Having trained as a Mining Engineer, he worked in senior mine operational management and resource marketing roles before joining Toro Energy Limited as Managing Director upon its start up in 2006. Prior to this he was Director of Sales with Rio Tinto’s Bauxite and Alumina division. Greg has also held a variety of senior technical and operational management roles at WMC Resources Limited at its nickel operations and the Olympic Dam project, and with ERA Ltd at their Ranger and Jabiluka operations, and later as Marketing Manager (North America) responsible for uranium sales. Greg remains a non-executive director of Toro Energy Limited.
Chief Financial Officer
Russell joined Hillgrove in February 2008 as Chief Financial Officer bringing over 20 years' experience in the industry, with senior management positions in accounting, commercial and planning roles and significant experience with mine project evaluations and construction of new mines. Russell started his career as a public accountant before joining BHP where he took on various roles, then to Shell as Commercial Manager for the construction, development and production of a major underground mine. More recently Russell has been Chief Financial Officer for contracting and services companies in the mining sector. Russell was well equiped to step into the role of Acting CEO in mid-2012 for six months prior to the appointment of Greg Hall. Russell is a Director and Company Secretary of the Hillgrove Group's subsidiary companies.
General Manager - Kanmantoo Copper Mine
Steve joined Hillgrove in September 2012 to oversee operations at the Kanmantoo Copper Mine. Previously the Deputy General Manager, then Head of Mining Operations for Newcrest Mining’s Cadia Valley Operations, Steve has spent a significant portion of his career constructing, ramping up and optimising mining operations, including Telfer, Cadia Hill, Ridgeway Deeps and Cadia East for Newcrest, and Callie for Newmont. With a background that includes management of Normandy’s White Devil Mine, various roles within Mount Isa Mines and a work/study Mining Engineering Cadetship with Western Collieries when he joined the industry in 1989, Steve now boasts significant experience within the industry ranging from underground operations of 150ktpa to 26mtpa, to open pit operations of 2mtpa to 17mtpa, and copper concentrators of 2.4mtpa to 24mtpa.
Head of Indonesia
Jim joined Hillgrove Resources Limited in late 2009 and was appointed to the role of General Manager - Exploration in July 2010. With over 20 years' experience in the Resources industry, Jim has a broad operational background with a successful record of discovery, acquisition, development and profitable asset disposal. He has worked for Lithic Metals and Energy, a London AIM listed company (formerly Zambezi Nickel Limited) where he was the Managing Director; was integral in the acquisition, listing and development of the Tethyan Copper Company and its 4 billion tonne copper/gold resource prior to its takeover by Barrick and Antofagasta. Jim also and spent a large portion of his career at Mincor Resources NL as their Business Development Manager where he managed a diverse portfolio of gold and base metal exploration assets in Australia, the South Pacific and various African jurisdictions.
Shanthi has been with Hillgrove since 2010 in the role of Group Finance and Planning Manager and has been extensively involved in the construction, financing, and operations of the Company during this time. Shanthi started her career in Big 4 chartered accountancy before moving into the commercial arena where she has over 15 years’ experience across a diverse range of roles and industries. She has held various senior management positions in finance, commercial and planning roles, most recently at Caltex Australia and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games. Shanthi was appointed Company Secretary of Hillgrove Resources Limited in August 2012.
