Kanmantoo Employment
Welcome to the Employment Page for the Kanmantoo Copper Mine!
Contrary to what you might see in the media, Kanmantoo is a small operation with only 90 Hillgrove staff. There are a limited number of skilled roles available at any one time listed on our portal below that we are recruiting for. We are not accepting general expressions of interest for positions as we have an extensive waiting list. Also due to our excellent location and high responses we do not utilise recruitment agencies so please apply directly if you see an ad here or on Seek. For further details please read on.
Approximately 190 personnel, 100 of whom are contractors, staff the mine. The bulk of our recruitment for the Kanmantoo site took place in mid-2011 in preparation for the commencement of production operations in November 2011. We were extremely pleased with the huge response to our program (over 2,500 applications) and were thrilled to have been able to provide many local residents with the opportunity to be involved in the start-up of Hillgrove’s flagship Mine.
Moving forward, the Kanmantoo site will continue to present opportunities for applicants seeking to establish a balance between their work and personal commitments, and become part of an energetic and committed team. With no Fly In / Fly Out and the ability to live in the city, beautiful Adelaide Hills or by the beach, Kanmantoo presents a unique opportunity rarely seen within the resources sector.
We strongly believe in forming direct relationships with our local community and for any roles posted on our portal we will welcome applications from enthusiastic top-performers, with the requisite skills and experience that are ready to go to the next level in their careers. With a ‘Local-Hire’ policy applying to the Kanmantoo Copper Mine, you must be either a local resident or prepared to relocate (at your own expense) to the area to be considered for employment.
Please note: Agency referrals will not be accepted.
HILLGROVE ROLES

Bulk earthworks, mining and ore movement operations are provided by Exact Mining Services. To view current vacancies and apply for a specific role with Hillgrove Resources, click the ‘Apply Online’ button below!

Please note: Due to the overwhelming response to our 2011 recruitment drive we are only accepting applications for specific roles via the website only – email applications and expressions of interest will not be accepted until we work through the exisiting waiting list. Unfortunately, with our low staff turnover and limited roles this is unlikely to change for some time.
Graduate/Vocational/Apprentice Programs
We offer limited Graduate and Vocational opportunities in Mine Geology and Mine Engineering, and Apprenticeship opportunities in Mechanical Fitting and Electrical. When placements become available at the Kanmantoo Copper Mine we will advertise them on our website portal. So if you are interested regularly check our 'Apply Online' link under Current Vacancies above.
As a precursor, graduate students from Adelaide universities are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) regarding research projects they may wish to undertake in relation to the Mine. Each EOI will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine merit, relevance to the site and availability of Hillgrove staff to assist in the project.
Secondary school approved work experience submissions will be assessed on the merits of their application. Whilst work experience placements may not be possible at times due to operational limitations, efforts will be made to assist students wherever possible.
General work experience placements (i.e. non-school based placements) will not be provided on site.
