Hillgrove, through its local Indonesia based partners PT Akram Resources and PT Fathi Resources, has secured 2,815 square kilometers of ground comprising two major projects – the Bird’s Head Project on the north western tip of the eastern Indonesian province of West Papua and a gold prospect on the island of Sumba, west of Timor.

We are always mindful we operate in and around local communities and it is our greatest wish to see as many people as possible benefit from our presence.  Hillgrove pursues a mandate to utilise services, businesses and hire locally whenever possible.

The areas have both been explored by previous operators and extensive historical data provided to help fast track exploration.  We have also been fortunate to have geologists and employees who live locally and are experienced in the project areas step forward to join us in our early exploration work and continue with the extensive programmes planned for the coming year.

Socialisation programmes in the project areas were undertaken and designed to present Hillgrove’s credentials and exploration intentions to the local communities and other stakeholders who live within the exploration license areas.  The hire of locals for a wide variety of casual roles has been undertaken at both projects as supplies are bought in and base camps built and manned to support the field exploration crews.

Should results continue to be encouraging, the requirement for staff and supplies is only set to increase and we will ensure as many local people as possible continue to have the opportunity to gain employment.
