Mine Life Extension
Following significant community engagement and having worked closely with various areas of the Local, State and Federal Governments the Kanmantoo Copper Mine received a two year mine life extension in July 2014. This approval provides the mine with a 75% increase in processed ore over the original PEPR and a life extension to 2019, based on current mine Reserves and allows access to additional copper Resources located within the Mining Lease.
EPBC SUBMISSION FOR EXTENSION OF OPERATIONSHillgrove Copper invited public comment on the proposed action to extend the copper mining operations at the Kanmantoo Copper Mine, located approximately 1.5km southwest of Kanmantoo, South Australia, in November 2013. The proposed expansion was assessed under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) number EPBC 2013/6965. All information provided for assessment is copied below for public referral. The public consultation period requesting written submissions per Section 95A(3) of the Act closed 12 December 2013.
The information provided relates to each matter protected by Part 3 of the EPBC Act and includes information on the handling of the following threatened species and ecological communities listed under sections 18 and 18A:
- The Peppermint Box Eucalyptus Odorata Grassy Woodland; and
- Iron-grass Natural Temperate Grassland.
